Summary: San Diego Church desires to reach the un-churched. Their Sunday format is a coffee-house feel with round tables, coffee, donuts and other beverages. The church tries to keep the format under one-hour to keep the pace moving and not lose people. Their own ad campaign says, “We’re the church for people with A.D.D” Much of what this church holds to is good doctrine, except some people may disagree with the emphasis on ‘missional church services’ at the expense of equipping the saints of your congregation. (Is preaching for the unsaved or the saved?) This is something people will need to think about if they participate in the church. Much of the work for the ’saved’ is during the week at home groups, where the San Diego Church equips the saints. Other than that, this church is filled with people who have a heart for people coming to Christ and that is a great mission.
A missionally minded church that we recommend if someone is active in the small groups offered during the week.

Summary: Bonita Valley is a community church that desires to be all things to all people. The service I attended offered a very simple message. The good news is that it was based on the Bible. The challenge is that I do not believe over a period of time a person can grow that much sitting under the preaching. The church does offer a large (and I mean large) variety of weekly programs for every age group and sin. Alcoholics to teens, tweens, babies and adults. The glaring missing group is a mens group.
We can only nominally recommend this church IF someone was very active in Bible Studies and studied the Scripture as a part of their life.

Summary: As I attended St. John of the Cross I was surprised by how little the congregation knew. I asked some people about their beliefs regarding Jesus Christ, life after death and the Bible. Most people could not even answer the most basic of questions. Many who did answer a question, held to a non-Biblical position. For example they did not think Jesus was God.
The service was standard Catholic liturgy, which I enjoy as it gives me a time to reflect and pray. The message was a simple message about faith. There was no real content during the whole service except for communion, which is a powerful reminder if people approach it with reverence. Overall, there was little this church offered to those looking to learn about God.
We do not recommend people attend this church. We gather from the weak preaching and the confusion of the congregants the Bible is not taught nor held to as God’s word.
